Unlike ordinary press heads often staying as glorified nuts, Abbey Bike Tools showcases a solid thrust bearing constituting balls and races. This exceptional design ensures the pressing action remains smooth, completely isolated from the torque. It can be hand-rotated, using the brand's distinctive finger spline pattern, or turned using a 6mm hex at the top for increased leverage. Additionally, the kit includes a centring cone to assist in concentric pressing with the bore, ensuring precise alignment each time.
This press is specifically designed for use with drifts, sold separately, suitable for various bearing shapes, sizes, and styles. Each drift is meticulously machined to fit flawlessly and proportionate to the 1/2" acme thread, promoting straight installation each time.
The quick nut at another end of the press slides onto the thread reaching the drift sans multiple turns, safely locking in place with a click. Its one-handed operation offers fast, smooth action, reducing pinch risks and facilitating an overall quicker and easier job.
Install bearings one at a time, using the centring cone, as recommended by Abbey, ensuring safe and straight settlement without any damage risks to the bearings, the frame, or your tools.
